What's On 2024

We have a robust set of clubs and groups meeting weekly and monthly!  Also we have events for children during holidays and seasonal adult/family events too!  Check the library calendar for more details and eventbrite to book childrens events!

We rely on fundraising and donations to keep things running and charge a small donation of £1 to £2 for taking part in clubs and groups.

With weekly Knit and Natter, a lovely friendly group who meet Mondays 11am in the library and knit and crochet for themselves and for the Special Baby Units in hospitals locally, and for Women's Aid groups. £1 per session donation.

Beginners French is at 7pm on Thursdays in the library and is a small fun filled group led by Fay, an experienced language enthusiast who will help budding learners. £1 per session.

Local History group meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm, a small but enthusiastic group of people who love to explore the past of where we live.  This is helped by our amazing Memories of Gwaun cae Gurwen Facebook Group with nearly 3 thousand members spanning the world, where stories photos and annecdotes are shared daily.

We are hoping to bring back 1:1 Children's Reading sessions - pre bookable only, but are looking for a bilingual volunteer to give up an hour of their time - could it be YOU - giving confidence back to children and helping with their welsh learning at the same time.

Set up in the lockdowns, our Zoom Virtual Book Club Novels at Night is still going strong. With a monthly zoom meeting on a Thursday 8pm and often having a featured author join in, the group is a very supportive friendly group who just love sharing their love of books!  £1 per month membership, we've had a number of BIG author visits and often now meet up "in real life" for trips and evenings!

Caffi Cymraeg was set up by Menteriaith Castell Nedd Port Talbot, well over 7 years ago and is still meeting every Tuesday 10.15 till 11.15.

Finally Lego club on Wednesdays at 15.20 is a weekly fun for all activity where children can freely let their imagination run wild with their friends creating models and creatures galore.

While all the time having access to our open library and learning that books and libraries are warm fun places to be!
